Student Competitions & Festivals

IMTA provides various performance opportunities for students of all levels. Explore our upcoming competitive events and opportunities near you.

  • Categories include Piano, Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Voice, Chamber music, Piano ensemble, and Composition.
  • Visit the MTNA page for program requirements.
  • Must be an Idaho resident or studying with an Idaho teacher.
  • The 2026 Idaho State MTNA Performance Competition will take place at Dunkley Music in Meridian, ID on October 24-25.
  • Registration for Composition, Piano, Piano Duet, Strings and Woodwinds opens early August.
  • Registration for Brass and Voice Competitions opens November 1.

IMTA Conference Masterclass
  • Selection through audition. 
  • Memorization is mandatory for all solo instrumentalists.
  • Selected participants receive a 25-minute masterclass with the conference guest artist. 
  • Application deadline for the 2026 IMTA Conference masterclass is September 20.

Certificate of Achievement

The Certificate of Achievement is a comprehensive year-end piano exam sponsored by Musicians West and held throughout Idaho during April and May each year. Exam areas include:

  • Performance

  • Technique

  • Theory

  • Sight Reading

  • Aural Skills

Local chapter activities: festivals, adjudications, recitals masterclasses

Teachers, check with your local chapter president for organized student activities and opportunities such as festivals, adjudications, recitals, and masterclasses. This is a great way to enrich your studio and provide students with experiences the enrich their learning.
